This story gives an insight into the life and times of the monks who lived in the sixth Century. The narration captures the reader from the very start, as this young man 17 years old leaves his family home in Turkey and goes on a breathtaking journey to find the Promise Land, which leads him to the Emerald Isle of Ireland. It is an amazing spiritual testimony about some real happenings in the first centuries of Christianity beautifully embellishing the story of this fictional character who creates bridges from the past to the present time. In reading this book you get the sense to be part of that time, when monks were looking for God sincerely, in order to spread out love and harmony throughtout the world and doing so, they are giving us a special message for our time. The author espresses through the eyes of this holy and spiritual monks what Skellig Michael holds, this storm battered pyramid rock rising high from the Atlantic ocean, is simply a marvel of Nature and it is a testament of the extraordinary courage and devotion of this small community of monks who called it their home at the edge of the world.
